Ambrosia had the notion in 2024 to bring the great taste of Cherry Pie and hang it on a quality Haze backbone and its Candy Haze was the perfect candidate!
Bay Area darling “Cherry Pie” dominated the scene around 2008 before the breakout of Girl Scout Cookies. A lot has come and gone since then, but the Cherry Pie cut still remains and for good reason – you just can’t beat the quality of smoke! It could be a little finicky and had stability issues, but it was worth the roll of the dice to bring all the good things we loved over to a better haze foundation. And we had the right pairing…
Candy Haze was a labor of love for Ambrosia. We first took our classic Mr. Nice ’98 Super Silver Haze ‘cut only’ Nor-Cal mother we have held for years and paired it with our selected “Candyland” male (of Ken Estes fame), to create our blistering “Candy Haze”, a true gem in its own right. Then we searched for the fastest and most robust male we could find in over 200 Candy Haze F2 plants. Then we paired it with four females from that same population run, selected for their girth, structure and ungodly resin production. We stabilized the chemotype we liked in F3 and were ready to rock!
Creating Cherry Pie Haze was actually seamless and a lot less work than we expected, with surprising uniformity in the F2’s. The norm was outstanding large plants that had a very reasonable run time and produced large bushes of long, sticky colas with some serious cherry-spice. But the high…that was the show stopper! A soaring cerebral high without any of the jitters, made for a daytime happy smoke that fit everyone’s bill.
Look for a reasonable 9-week run time with high yields and a general no-headache growing experience, without molds or pests. Highly recommended!
