Jamaican Chocolates F2:
As a time-tested fan favorite, DNA’s Chocolope has long been one of the terpene superstars. Crafted from what was the real-deal Chocolate Thai cob bricks of the 70’s, Chocolope really has very, very few competitors. Alternative genetics that carry the same terpene palate are all but gone, with a few exceptions put forth like DJ Short and his Cocoa Kush.
But they all have one thing in common: the resin production and potency profiles are really lacking. The thought occurred to us to work it back to our current Sour Jamaican Lime project to see if we could forge that unique chocolate terpene profile and add to the mix the heavy resin production and overall production of our worked line Sour Jamaican Lime. First, we needed to find that Chocolope dominant chemotype, rather than the Cannalope Haze side of Chocolope, which can be underwhelming. Eventually we selected a killer Chocolate Thai-dominant male (a year later) and re-worked the line back to a representative Chocolope BX that made the grade. (This really took more work than we expected.) Now we were ready to work…
We have been working on refining Dying Breeds’ under-appreciated “Sour Jamaican Lime” for at least four years. Battle-proven for producing quality flowers with some amazing lime terp profiles that wanders to hints of green curry with just ridiculous resin production. It just needed a more open structure, like many of the Kashmiri lines we have seen to make both lines shine.
The recombination of these two oh-so-different plants really gave rise to some unexpected results. First, as we hoped, the resin production leapt off the page. (Mission accomplished!) Second, this was no longer a mild coffee-chocolate nuanced smoke. This line hits like Egyptian espresso, with a bitter chocolate bite and a twist of orange peel! (I have no idea what happened to the lime terps.) We ran this back a second time to lock in what we liked into an F3 and called it a wrap!
Ideal for either indoor or outdoor cultivation, it will perform well in a greenhouse environment as well. Best of all look for a sub-8 week run time with less of a concern for late season mold. This is an easy to run strain, perfect for the inexperienced grower.
